This program was launched in 2013 and 2014 with seed funding from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, Environmental Stewardship Fund, under the administration of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), Bureau of Recreation and Conservation. Grant funding was supported through the South Mountain Partnership, an alliance of organizations working to preserve and enhance the cultural and natural assets of the South Mountain Landscape in Central Pennsylvania. Management oversight of the Partnership is provided by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.
The 2016 program was supported directly by grant funding from the Chris Thorpe Foundation, the Kate Svitek Memorial Foundation, the Friends of Pine Grove Furnace State Park, program tuition, and other private support. The Central PA Conservancy extends its gratitude to these donors committed to engaging youth in environmental leadership opportunities and experiential learning.
